I finally got around to oxidising some of the silver jewellery I recently had 3D printed from Shapeways. Initially I was quite concerned about oxidising, I didn't want to damage the silver.
I oxidised the jewellery by putting a few drop of Liver Sulphur in warm water and letting the jewellery soak for about half an hour. It did look pretty scary when I took it out - It was all black and I thought I'll never get it looking all shiny and silvery again. But after 20 mins of rubbing will a silver cloth and some elbow grease the little flower heart was transformed. It now looks like an antique, vintage piece, remarkable effect. I'm going to oxidise all silver 3D printed jewellery from now on, it really does make it look finished and more real, somehow.
Below you can see the before and after pictures of the sterling silver Forget-Me-Not Flower Heart which is the 1st prize in my Second Life Valentine's day raffle. Buy the Second Life version of the Forget-Me-Not Heart for 299L$ from my inworld Shop at Ooot Ooot and win the $130 silver version.
Also shown below are before and after oxidisation photos of some silver rings and my first 3D print ever, The Marrakech Heart. The oxidisation process really brings out the details of the designs. I'm very happy with the results.

Hello Lilo :-) Thank you, I love what the oxidisation does to the jewelery.
